RMA Breakfast Focused on Czech Science Foundation Projects

On 23 February 2026, the CENTREPEACE project organised a traditional RMA Breakfast in the form of a workshop dedicated to sharing good practice in preparing project proposals for the Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR). Exchanging experience plays an important role in improving the quality of project proposals, both at the national and international levels. The Czech Science Foundation is one of the main funding bodies supporting basic (theoretical) research and represents one of the most frequent sources of research funding for universities in the Czech Republic.

The workshop opened with a presentation by Alena Lorencová from the Research and Project Support Office of the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University. She introduced the basic information about current GA ČR calls, outlined the support provided by the faculty during the proposal preparation process, and summarised the most common comments raised by evaluators in project assessments. The second presentation was delivered by Miroslava Hazuková from the Economic Department, who focused on the financial conditions of GA ČR projects and explained how to set up a realistic and appropriate project budget.

The second half of the workshop was devoted to practical recommendations from evaluators of project proposals. They highlighted the most frequent mistakes found in applications and offered advice on how to approach the writing process more effectively. The event concluded with an open discussion, during which participants shared their own experience and consulted specific questions related to proposal preparation.
