From Outputs to Impact: Helping Researchers Turn Ideas into Real-World Effect
CENTREPEACE organised an impact workshop helping researchers understand how to plan and achieve meaningful research impact.
On 28 November 2025, the CENTREPEACE project organised a knowledge exchange workshop for research managers and administrators (RMAs). The event brought together colleagues from Peace Research Institute Oslo, the University of Helsinki, and Masaryk University to share experience and good practices relevant to their daily work.
On 28 November 2025, CENTREPEACE organised a knowledge exchange workshop dedicated to research managers and administrators. The event created a space for RMAs from the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), the University of Helsinki, and Masaryk University to meet, exchange experience, and discuss topics that are central to supporting international research.
The workshop opened with a session on the preparation of Horizon Europe project proposals, led by Anne Duquenne from PRIO. Drawing on her extensive experience, she shared practical insights into the proposal-writing process, including common challenges, lessons learned, and strategies that can improve the quality and competitiveness of project applications.
The second session focused on building partnerships and was presented by Anna Korhonen from the University of Helsinki. She discussed how alumni networks can be effectively used to identify potential partners for project proposals, as well as how established international networks can help attract new researchers to institutions. She also highlighted the role of international conferences as strategic tools for networking and long-term partnership building.
The third topic addressed science communication and how RMAs can support it in a meaningful way. This session was led by Maija Harju from the University of Helsinki, who explained why science communication is an essential part of research support, how research results can be communicated more effectively to broader audiences, and what role institutional structures play in facilitating these activities.
The final session focused on organising engaging events and was delivered by Marián Koval from Masaryk University. He reflected on what makes an event truly engaging and emphasised that quality should be prioritised over quantity. Based on practical experience, he shared tips on how to design events that create value for participants and support collaboration.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion, during which participants shared their own experiences and good practices from their institutions. The exchange highlighted the importance of learning from one another and demonstrated that knowledge sharing among RMAs is essential for strengthening cooperation, improving research support, and making international research more effective and meaningful.
